Ooh, shock it, break it, baby
Electric Lady, Electric Lady (x)
"Yeah, I obviously want our generation to be as socially and politically active and aware as possible, but I’m also not prepared to take all the blame for “apathy” when a lot of us are floundering because we were trained for a version of the world that doesn’t really exist anymore - and a lot of boomers still don’t realize it doesn’t exist. How many people were told “if you want to succeed, get good grades, go to college, go to college, go to college,” and then after taking on an unprecedented amount of student loan debt, discovered that the economy had changed, the job market had changed, and a college degree still might not even get you a living wage? I guess now they’re telling everyone to be an engineer if you want a “smart” degree - a couple years before that it was lawyers. Half the people I know went to law school and there is now a glut of unemployed lawyers. (But if you didn’t choose the right degree at the right time, you’re clearly just a lazy Millenial who wants to make six figures with an art degree, or something.) It’s a new landscape and millenials are having to find their feet and adapt."
